I am using 2.1.1 and its really good, just I would really like to use latest version of MySQL:

MySQL 5.5.27

I know the MAMP version is only slightly behind that:

MySQL 5.5.25

But I want to know
a) Is it ok for me to upgrade myself to latest version of MySQL always, and
b) How to do it. I am comfortable using the shell etc.

I suppose same goes for other libraries as well but I am particularly interested in running latest version of MySQL.

If I just download from here:

http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/

and ... then what to do to install?

Many thanks.

I've just downloaded this, after a clean install (and upgrade) of Mountain Lion.

Safari (and Chrome) refuse to load any host I create, starting with localhost.

I've been a registered user of MAMP PRO for years but I will not register v2 until this issue is resolved. The trial period isn't supposed to lack features, surely?

I have not uncommented PHP in Mac OS (I heard a rumour that I need to do so; is it true?)

I am not running built-in Apache.

Please see the screenshot, and help!

Kind regards,

- Peter

When i turn off local name resolution, it doesnt ask for admin password and the hosts file remains unchanged. Is there a fix for this problem?

I just installed the new version and translated the readme to Dutch, but it seems for the old version.

You need standard ports 8888 (Apache) and 8889 (MySQL)

I have never actually worked with this. All I want to know is whether it is better that the lamp. If it is better; then I am definitely going to get my hands on it. I am in love with PHP and Mysql and I would be more than happy to hear your reply. http://www.fixyoursoftware.com
