Add memcache module to php and apache

Post by crispy » Sat 17. Jul 2010, 00:07

memcache is used so frequently for performance improvements and has to be updated to match the php build etc within MAMP.

It would be hugely helpful if it was included as part of the MAMP package. For example, right now it would save our development team about 4 hours of set up time.

Thanks!

+1. This is becoming a standard part of any moderate-to-large web development project, and having it easily configurable locally would be ideal.

I'd also pay for an upgrade that included this, though I think a more ZendServer-like solution would be ideal--just click to configure. I'd pay full price for that upgrade.

+1, it's an important part of any bigger website, even Digg, Facebook and other use it and extend it. It's a lot of work to compile memcache extension on my own and to make it work with MAMP, when new MAMP comes, everything needs to be recompiled. I'd also even pay for this feature.

This needs to be added. Even though MAMP PRO isn't used for production environments, it is used with developers' machines that need to test similar environment setups as a production linux server. Memcache is a very important part of a production server setup and easily installs in linux. It's a real pain to hack install memcache with each version of php in MAMP PRO and should come fully supported.

You can download both memcache and memcached extensions, compiled for latest mamp and php.
