php.ini not reflecting changes made

Post by motoservo » Thu 14. Feb 2008, 18:28

My understanding is that the php.ini in:

/Library/Application Support/living-e/MAMP PRO/conf/

is created as a copy of:

/Applications/MAMP/conf/php5/

when starting the servers. I have made a change to the memory allocation in php.ini at:

/Applications/MAMP/conf/php5/

but the change is not reflected in the copy at:

/Library/Application Support/living-e/MAMP PRO/conf/

and the phpinfo.php page doesn't reflect the change either.

Any takers?

MORE -not copying php.ini from /Apps/MAMP/conf/php5 at all

Post by motoservo » Thu 14. Feb 2008, 18:49

I removed the php.ini file in from the Apps/MAMP/conf/php5 folder and the php.ini in the /Library/App Support folder is still auto generating at server launch.

I have about 4 different ports of PHP on this computer. One from Entropy, one from macports, and the default Leopard install.

is it possible MAMP is copying the php.ini that is used in Library/App Support folder from the wrong php.ini?

Hi motoservo,

MAMP PRO uses a template to generate a new php.ini at every server start. The original template is located within the application bundle but if you edit it and save using MAMP PRO then a copy is created at

~/Library/Application Support/living-e/MAMP PRO/templates/phpx.ini.temp

and MAMP PRO uses this copy. You can delete this customized template but in this case MAMP PRO will try to use the original one from the application bundle, so you will have a problem since yours doesn't exist anymore. In this case probably the best idea would be to reinstall MAMP PRO.

Thanks,

So what are the use of the
/Applications/MAMP/conf/php4/php.ini
/Applications/MAMP/conf/php5/php.ini
Those files are never loaded.

The only file taken in consideration is one located here
/Library/Application Support/living-e/MAMP PRO/conf/php.ini

Could you tell me the use of having /php5/php.ini if they are NEVER used.

Thanks

They are used if you don’t use MAMP Pro.

So since I am currently using the non-pro version because I am short on money,
So it would be fine to change the files here:
/Applications/MAMP/conf/php4/php.ini
/Applications/MAMP/conf/php5/php.ini

if I need to make changes?

Also in the non-pro am I allowed to enable SMTP to allow PHP mailing?

Thanks in Advance,

I try to install Drupal with Mamp Pro.
I want to increase the memory in the php.ini. But.. I have a php.ini in both the PHP4 and 5 folder... but not in the MAMP/conf
Could this be the cause of a blank page on http://localhost:8888/drupal..?

Guys it depends on which version of php your MAMP is using. You can find it out on

/Applications/MAMP/conf/apache/httpd.conf

looking for the configured hp5_module

After that, as someone said before, you have to go to the bin folder. There you'll find a 'conf' folder with a php.ini inside.

example: /Applications/MAMP/bin/php/php5.4.10/conf

Leo
