MAMP pro MYSQL Magento

Post by nean » Mon 26. Oct 2009, 12:14

Latest Magento, 1.3.x does not see the correct version of MYSQL on MAMP pro.
I get the message;
Your server does not meet the following requirements in order to install Magento.
The following requirements failed, please contact your hosting provider in order to receive assistance with meeting the system requirements for Magento:

* You need MySQL 4.1.20 (or greater)

The following requirements were successfully met:

* You have PHP 5.2.0 (or greater)
* Safe Mode is off
* You have the curl extension
* You have the dom extension
* You have the gd extension
* You have the hash extension
* You have the iconv extension
* You have the mcrypt extension
* You have the pcre extension
* You have the pdo extension
* You have the pdo_mysql extension
* You have the simplexml extension

Who is wrong? Magento or MAMP.

Running Mac OS 10.5.6 on PPC G4 Mac.

Thank you.

I found somewhere else that the problem might be a cookie not installing because the host name does not have a dot in it. I created a virtual site with two dots, ending with ".com" (apo.lo.com in this case). IT WORKED.

MySQL is still on "localhost" host but the Magento site is on "apo.lo.com" host.

I have not tried one dot or no ".com" ending so I do not know if it works. It might.

The error message is probably inappropriate for the situation.

I think MAMP is wrong as Magento did not encourage such situation and Magento site is on "apo.lo.com" host.

I have tried the same thing, I am using Vista, Winamp and have successfully installed a wordpress site for production testing. The front end is working perfectly, but I cannot access the admin. It keeps saying password / username incorrect. I have gone into php MyAdmin to make sure the password is the same under the admin table & your link help me!

I can understand you are not able to rich your requirement with new Magneto. According to me, you should study your store or brand new version of magento. You can meet Magento expert for the same he will guide you properly.

It seems like a lot of people are facing the same issue. I came across this problem yesterday and could find a fix for this issue. I hope the pro’s here can help me in some way. There must be an alternative way to get the correct version of Mamp pro installed.
